Aging and pregnancy

Okay, so I'm not too old but am definitely old enough for some things to not go quite right. Twice, since I've been big-bellied, I've done the splits. Now, I would never do this on purpose. Once was at the grocery store and I was pushing the cart down the aisle when I hit a slick spot and one foot went sliding. The other time was at Lowes when Becca and I were looking at colors for the baby's room. She was standing on the "shelf: helping me look and I was right beside her. She stepped back and I went to grab her; the floors at Lowes are slick with my flip flops and we both "sat" on the floor. It was like slow motion and neither of us were hurt, except I did the splits again and you really shouldn't do that when you're largely pregnant and over 30. Things were popping that shouldn't be and let's just say I was sore for a day or so after. The other thing that makes me think I'm getting a little older is my eye issue. It hasn't affected my vision, but my left eyelid looks half closed. I went to an ophthamalogist who said the muscle that opens/closes the eyelid, slipped out of the cartiladge that holds it in place. The only way to fix it is through surgery which I will do after the baby is born. When I came home and looked online at several sites, it told me ptosis occurs primarily in those over 30 and increases with age. Well, there you go, I'm over 30 and am falling apart....I'm hoping to pull myself together in the near future.

New park

I am so excited about the new park here in town. I have heard so much about it and it lived up to the hype. It was finished in the spring but we hadn't made it out. Because it's a new park, there isn't any shade yet and the heat that comes off the tire shreds lining the park make it even hotter. So, we waited for the cooler weather. The leadership council who was in charge of this went to elementary school students and found out what they would want in a park and tried to incorporate what they could. They have a "big" area and an area for toddlers. The only thing I would change, that my friend and I discovered who has and 18-month old, was to put a gate at the toddler section to keep them corralled. If you contributed a certain amount, you could have something put on a picket, so Becca has her name on a picket there. Here are some pictures of our fun morning.

Pics...finally

I am 25 weeks pregnant and am finally getting a picture of me pregnant. The second child just doesn't get the same amount of pictures. I had almost every month from 4 months on with Becca. I keep thinking about getting a picture taken but then it slips my mind. That's definitely another thing worse this time around...my memory! I can now empathize with my friends who have gone through this before. I am still a little tired but in my nesting mode. I am so ready to get both rooms done. I have finished painting Becca's bed...which was the guest bed...and put it in her room. She's so excited about her new big bed, which is a full-size, that she told me she needed to take a nap in her bed yesterday. She has pretty much stopped taking naps most days so this was a great surprise. We'll see how long this novelty lasts. My next step is to find paint for the boy's room and get it painted. Until that happens, both rooms are cramped and messy. So, if you come see me in the next month or two, you'll just have to look away.

I passed!

I got to chug my sunkist for my glucose test today. I'm not a big drinker so drinking a whole can in 5 minutes was pretty hard. But my blood sugar levels were normal and so were my iron levels. Last time with Becca, my iron was a little low. I didn't have to go on pills but my doctor told me to eat more steaks and hamburgers...now that's a diet I can follow! It's funny how different doctors are. There are 4 doctors in my practice and I've seen 2 different ones the last 2 weeks. My due date is December 30th. The first one said if everything was going well, he would induce me any time after Christmas. The doctor I saw today who is older and said he has seen more and doesn't understand why people wait so long...I had an 8 pound 4 oz baby and almost a 4th degree tear which he said was probably due to the fact I was 2 days over. Anyway, whatever his reasoning, he said if everything was going well and I was ready, he'd induce anytime after the 16th. Now that sounds much better to me. Plus I'd have the full benefit of my mom who will be here for 2 weeks starting the week of Christmas. I don't know what my regular doctor prefers...probably not the 2 weeks early but I can only hope.
