Halloween party

There is a family here that goes all out for Halloween. They invite a ton of kids and have all kinds of games, activities, and food for everyone to eat. They always have great costumes too. Last year they were Frankenstein and the bride of Frankenstein; this year they were Fred and Wilma Flinstone. Becca was so excited to go. This is the first year she had an opinion, or maybe the first year I asked her, on what she was going to be for Halloween. She has been watching Aladdin a lot and decided she wanted to be Princess Jasmine. I couldn't find one her size at the store so I went to Disney online and found a cute costume and shoes. She was so excited, she said, "I can't wait until everyone sees my Jasmine costume." I just love when she gets so excited about things. They played a game called musical tombs. They gave everyone a tombstone drawn on a piece of paper with funny names on them (sorry I can't think of one now) and played "musical chairs". Well, my daughter has never played that game and doesn't really understand the concept. Most of the kids there were a little older. When she didn't land on a tombstone and another kid told her she was out, she wagged her finger at him and said, "No, I'm not out" and I'm sure a few other things. The lady running the game told me later (because I couldn't hear what was going on) that she cracked up at her gestures and mannerisms. They played all sorts of games and just played in the backyard, went on a "hayride" and then all went inside for a feast. They do know how to throw a party and Becca enjoyed every minute of it. They had to eat the cookie off the string without touching it Yum! Making slime! Just some of the cute, delicious food

Pumpkin patch

Last weekend Becca and I had fun with some friends at a local pumpkin patch called Christian Way Farms. They had so many fun things to do, including playing in corn, going through mazes, climbing up hay bales, petting animals, picking out pumpkins, eating delicious foods, etc. Becca was sick the night before put seemed to be much better by the morning so we braved it and she did very well. Until that night, as exhausted as I was, I wasn't the most attentive mommy. I curled up on the couch with some chili and she went to grab a spoon as she so often does when I'm eating something. Before I knew it, she had eaten 2 bites. Needless to say, she got sick just a little bit that evening. It was just the chili and not a recurring event of the virus at least, but you know this mommy felt badly. Here are some pictures of our fun time at the farm.

Consignment sales

I love consignment sales! In the spring and fall, a local church has a kids consignment sale where you can sell and buy all types of things for your children. I was one of the first 40 people to put their items in the sale so I got to get in at 5:00. I had every intention of getting there a little before 5 but ended up being 5-10 minutes late which was just enough to miss out on a cradle swing. I was so irked by it and still am somewhat. I know what you're thinking, but it would have been nice to get one at a much cheaper price. Little things upset me but little things also excite me. I bought the cutest boppy and it just made me happy. I found clothes for both the kiddos, some toys, a travel swing and shoes for Becca. I won't know how much I made until the end of October but I'm pretty sure I at least broke even. Isn't this too cute? On another note. I went to my friend's baby shower yesterday. They have been home for about 5 weeks with their adopted baby from Guatemala who turned a year old not long before they picked him up. They waited so long for him and are thrilled he's home. He hasn't seem to had much trauma and seems to be adjusted quite well. He is adorable and just started walking. The foster family, especially the father, had a hard time giving him over since they had him so long. They talked to the foster familiy recently who had to give up their last foster child. Guatemala is no longer doing foster care and going strictly to orphanges...how sad!
