Becca's room

I finished painting Becca's room yesterday...it's not too pink. I picked out what looked like it had only a touch of pink...it's called ceramic pink. Now, we will sand and paint the footboard of the guest bed...which will be Becca's "new" bed. We have already repainted the old dresser that was in here that used to be Darren's as a bachelor. We painted it white and she picked out pink knobs. We already have her bedding she picked out from JC Penny online. It's pink stripe with pink hearts on the other side. Imagine a little girl liking pink. Once her room is done, we get to concentrate on the boys room. Then maybe I'll think about names...any ideas?

Guess what we're having??

We are so excited to find out we're having a boy...especially my husband. I honestly didn't have a preference. The problem now is names; I think boy names are much harder because you can't get cutsie or girlie with boys which narrows the field down. We want something a little different, although I will probably use my dad's middle name for his middle name which is Max. That also narrows down the choices as we will have to find something that goes with Max. My doctor told me if I don't go into labor on my own, we can induce anytime after Christmas. I don't want too close to Christmas but I don't want to go into the new year either. If he would come on his own two weeks early and be healthy, that would be great. Most of my family are coming into town for the holidays which will be nice. Just thought I should share our great news!

Great news!

I am pregnant!! Yeah! It hasn't been the easiest road to get here and ideally we would have gotten pregnant earlier or waited a few months because the timing isn't great...Becca will be 4 December 10th and this baby is due December 30th. Can you imagine 2 babies and Christmas all in the same month? I can't. We really are excited; I've passed my first trimester and am finally feeling like it's real. I haven't really been sick, just a little more pressure/slight pain with this won and of course exhausted every day. I'm lucky I can take a nap most afternoons wth Becca. Just wanted to share my awesome news. We'll find out what we're having, probably the first of August. I'll keep you posted.

Long time no blog

Wow! I can't believe how time has flown. This is my first week of having nothing to do and I'm so happy about it. Becca and I went to Iowa for my husband's niece's wedding. We then drove to Oklahoma for my grandma's 90th birthday celebration. We were gone for a total of 2 and a half weeks. When I got back I had so much to catch up on, it wasn't funny. The next week was Vacation Bible School which I helped with. The end of the week I went away for Southern Living at Home convention. Then I had something several nights last week after getting back and am so glad my summer is winding down. My neighbor started a dinner and book club and we had our first meeting last week. I've got this month so I'll be having people here and cooking something. I'm really excited about this. So many women have been really enthusiastic about it.

Stir crazy

I haven't been watching a couple of the kids I normally watch because their dad's company has been on strike. They came back Monday and then the youngest ended up with hand foot mouth. I sterilized the toys in hopes Becca would not get it. She ended up with a fever the next day and complaining of her mouth hurting. Evidently, HFM is something you have to ride out..it's a virus. So I didn't think much of taking her to the doctor until today. She still said her mouth hurt but she didn't have any rashes or mouth ulcers. She actually had strep which I'm now sorry I let it go a few days but at least we figured out the problem and she's got antibiotics. I've already been staying in to keep from spreading HFM and now Darren went out of town last night and won't be back until Monday night. I am stuck in the house with no interaction and going a little crazy. I told Darren he would probably get sick of me pretty quickly when he got back because I'm going to be needing to get out. I am leaving for out of town for 2-3 weeks next Friday so if Becca had to get sick, I suppose this was the best weekend for it. I'm going driving to Iowa with Becca for Darren's niece's wedding; he can't go because it's a holiday weekend. Then, Becca and I are driving to OK to spend time with my family, meet my new nephew and celebrate my grandmother's 90th birthday! I'll have all the getting out of the house I can stand by then.

Ticks

Wow...am I glad today is almost over. Anything that could throw our schedule off, happened. It started last Wednesday when my daughter and some friends were playing outside in our front yard. Becca fell several times and rolled around in our grass. No big deal, she's done that a million times. That night, while giving her a bath, I noticed a tick. Darren got it out...I yanked and yanked and that booger was not coming out. Well, being the typical 3-year-old, she likes to do things on her own with minimal help from me. I didn't think twice about the tick until I was giving her a bath Saturday night and noticed a pimple-looking thing with a red ring where the tick had been. We looked online and it said it could take a week to a month for any symptoms of lyme disease to show up. Since she wasn't feeling bad, we waited until today to take her to the doctor. He said it probably was and gave her antiobiotics to take so she probably will never feel any effects from the disease. She had a blood test done which they said will probably show up negative. She'll go back in a month and see if there are any antibodies. All the scheduling conflicts that happened today, between my husband working, me watching kids and not being able to get away or get ahold of anyone to help me, and having to be at a school to do a SLAH party, as well as finish my resume and cover letter to apply for a job with the deadline being today. Kids were running around driving me nuts while I was trying to get ready for my stuff as well as find out how to get my daughter to the doctor. Let me just say I'm glad today is over and realize I don't always perform well under pressure.

Easter

We were pretty busy this weekend. Our church had an Eggstravaganza event Saturday morning with the story of Easter, crafts, games, snacks and an egg hunt. Then after lunch, we went to a friend's parents house that does a big thing for the kids every year. She painted, played, hunted eggs and ate. Sunday, we of course went to church. We ate lunch at the club and then had an egg hunt with dad as the Easter bunny. The club also gave Easter baskets to all the kids. We got a quick nap and then went to another friend's parent's house for an egg hunt, crafts and snack. The kids got to go to the table of prizes several times to pick out cool things. Becca enjoyed every minute of the weekend.
